Rule #2

So I have since learned a new rule to blogging since my last post. Rule #2 of successful blogging is consistency. This will take some time to work out but is required to maintain to have a worth-wile blog that someone will want to read. I have two things to cover tonight. For one, the ICA meeting I held tonight was simply absolutely fabulous. ICA is short for In Christ Alone. It is the purpose behind everything that Christians do. It is because of Christ that we live and breath and have our existence. Because this is a burden of mine (and of the Bible…), I have made it a point to meet with my youth guys for a Saturday night Bible study every other weekend. It has been awesome thus far. These guys come willingly and eager to learn. I told them tonight that one purpose of mine by having this Bible study is to teach them how to study their Bible on their own. Tonight we were in 2 Peter chapter 1 and I am just going to say it, we as a group did a bang up job of pulling out the details in the first 15 verses and applying them to our lives. Verse eight in the text is so powerful pertaining to the purpose we serve as Christians: “For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” The picture (that I hope looks good as I post a pic for the first time on here) is a dramatization of what it means to be in Christ. When we give our lives over to Jesus Christ a transformation takes place. No longer are we ourselves; but our identity is now found in Christ! What a relief haha! My old self was corrupt; broken; no good; selfish. Now my new self is alive! Verse 8 is the culmination of the verses just before it. Essentially Peter is preaching that God desires to use a believer that is practicing his faith and is ready and waiting to be used. Peter is that servant as is seen in verse one. Peter desires tho that all believers have a doulos mindset in their relationship with Christ. If so then staying on the narrow path into Heaven is a breeze…
